Meet Jennifer and Rachel

We are two women who grew up in the same home town. We married best friends who were both called to ministry. After many years of being in very different churches across the country, our paths have crossed and our husbands are working on the same staff at Long Hollow Baptist Church in Hendersonville, TN. It is an exciting and fun time for us as we have spent the last 7 years raising our kids and serving the Lord together.

Jennifer is married to David who is the senior pastor and they have 3 kids. Rachel, Sam and Josh. She has an education degree from Belmont University and is very active in women’s ministry at Long Hollow. Jennifer also does WM training for Lifeway and is a popular workshop leader.

Rachel is married to Jeff and they have 3 kids. Trevor, Kelsey and Riley. Jeff is the Executive Pastor of Student Development at Long Hollow. Rachel has a degree in Mass communications/Journalism and has done freelance writing for Lifeway and other publications. She enjoys opportunities to speak and teach at womens’ events.

The motivation for In Our Shoes came mostly from the experiences that we have both had dealing with other wives in ministry. We prayed about how we could be used to encourage and support other women in ministry and this study is the result. It is our prayer that you will be blessed and challenged by the time you spend working through the book and also that you will always remember that there are others who are walking “in your shoes’.

  1. How fun! This is such a great idea. Would have loved this when I was a young minister’s wife wondering how I was ever going to live up to the expectations that I felt God, church members and myself had of ME! I know God is really going to use this to encourage lots of women!! Great job!

  2. I am excited about the upcoming Minister’s Wives Retreat in Louisiana and meeting you guys in person. I am currently on the last chapter, Sole Sisters, in your book. I have really enjoyed this study and related on many levels. I grew up in a minister’s home and have been married to a minister for 13 years and God is still teaching me about being in the ministry. Even though I told my dad when I was 16, “I will NEVER marry a preacher”, I know it is what I am called to do and I am loving every minute of it…NEVER say NEVER! See you in a few weeks.

    • we are soooo looking forward to being in LA with you all!!! Its going to be a great time because we wives get to be together and I agree—we never need to use the word NEVER..haha God has such a good sense of humor:)
see you in a couple of weeks
